Since the end of 2019 I’ve worked closely with Zoe Hudson, Peace cottage project co-ordinator.
We met firstly when having conversations about the Creative People and Places Fund when the Broxbourne Creative Partnership exsisted.
We both happened to become mothers 6 months appart from each other and had our second children around the same time, so we have had a lot of similar situations going on. even when I moved to wales with my family we still stayed in touch and spoke sporadically about the creative partnership, the development of peace cottage and mapping broxbourne.
When I was able to think about making art again, to look at my practice as a mother & where Mapping Broxbourne would go now after nearly 2 yrs (this was end of 2022) I began talking to Zoe more frequently about how we could work together again.
Zoe was at the time developing some conversations & community forums to be held at the Peace Cottage and at the start of 2023 I suggested the possibility of creating a conversation piece for the first forum which unfortunately I new I couldn’t make as I was still in wales at this point .
This was really a starting point to a shift in the work I had previously be processing after leaving broxbourne, participatory mapping . What’s the use of, reason for or need for these practices and how could I approach this in the work I would under take in broxbourne.
The chance to participate in a meeting without being present and still offer an invitation to participate & add to a visual piece really excites me and is a part of what I would love to work with going in to this next stage or shift in my approach to participatory practice.
